HOW WE PUBLISH
Editorial policy
Usefulness begins with an accurate scope.
Evidence before publication
A diagnostic guide needs more than a plausible title. Its code meaning, supported appliance scope, consumer checks, and service boundaries must be grounded in manufacturer documentation. We retain source references with the information they support. Unsupported records remain unpublished.
We write original explanations and organize documented information for practical reading. We do not reproduce complete manuals or present manufacturer text as our own testing.
Specificity must be earned
Exact-model pages require evidence that the model exists, that the code applies, and that the article contains meaningful model-specific information. Replacing a model number in a generic article is not enough.
When a shared guide is the more useful answer, model compatibility can be listed there. Similar product names, regional suffixes, and related brand ownership do not establish interchangeable instructions.
Clear limits and safe instructions
Articles identify what the source covers and where the reader should stop. Consumer checks do not include bypassing protective devices, working on energized electrical equipment, opening microwave high-voltage components, or servicing gas and refrigerant circuits.
We do not invent repair success rates, failure probabilities, component compatibility, technician credentials, or claims of hands-on testing. A displayed code alone is not a confirmed diagnosis of a failed part.
Updates and corrections
A guide’s update date reflects an editorial revision. Source check dates identify when the cited documentation was reviewed; they do not imply continuous monitoring or a manufacturer endorsement.
If evidence is incomplete or contradictory, we narrow the claim, hold the page, or revise its publication status. Changes to an appliance manual may require a later review. Always compare a guide with the documentation for your exact model.
Commercial separation
The diagnostic answer and safety instructions take priority over any advertising. Ad placement does not determine a code’s meaning or model compatibility. Advertising and any future affiliate relationships are described in the advertising disclosure.
